    3. David & Gene, Yes, they have been merged into one big board. I am having the boards pop up in a new window, I think that will make it easier for folks to not get lost from the genweb pages. There were a couple of times I would hit the back button and get an error, so this way the visitors have something other than error pages. Boards that are for a locality specific location should be interactive with the webpage that utilizes the system, this is not the case with this new system. I had over 20 message notifications in my box from the same reply that stated that I was the author of a reply made on one of the boards, I sure hope it did not spam everyone on that particular list, there are a few thousand e-mail addresses on there that may have chosen to be notified. I know they will get that bug fixed. LOL! I personally do not like the idea of folks having to register in order to use what has previously been offered by the GenWeb as an "open door" policy type thing, before Gen-Connect back around 95 we had to use mail merge to have a query system, or we had to post the individual queries etc into a HTML page for people to read. None of the previous methods used by the GenWeb required posters to register to post a query, and I do not believe that is a good policy when it comes to our established long time visitors. People can be funny that way, they see it as a pain, and an intrusion into their privacy. It is one thing to ask folks to cooperate, it is another to force them into registering to participate in what was once truly open to the public. I truly believe the "feel" of a system is important, especially in the family history/genealogy area. This new system is not nearly as friendly as the gen-connect, and it borders just plain ugly. I used to author BBS software long before the internet, while the message base operation is important, in my experience it was how friendly the system looked and acted that made a message base a hit with folks. Gen-Connect was a sure fire hit with folks. This new system is not even close to friendly. When you consider the happy easy going tone that Gen-Connect portrayed, and then you look that this new one, there leaves little doubt as to which the public will actually prefer. Just my humble opinion, -Darren
