Aha! Misc. is no longer our biggest category. From a high of 49 MB, it is now down to 29 MB. Census 32,880 Vitals (births, deaths, marriage, divorce) 30,608 Misc 29,688 Obits (Thank you Amarillo!) 27,812 Cemetery 25,844 Deeds/Land ( a lot of this came from moving files out of abstracts) 18,284 Numbers represent 1024 bytes. So using the proper category does help. I have to say that when Mike Taylor's land surveys were uploaded in 1996, there was no search engine, so the category didn't matter. Now it does. I also deleted the publication directory, and moved those files either into newspapers or into /history/quarterly/ I have discovered over the last three days that news and newspaper will not work as directories, that all ends up in misc. the only directory that will work is newspapers, unfortunately.
