Looks like there is an interesting debate going on regarding genealogy websites (commercial or otherwise) posting information like maiden names publicly and Congress is involved: http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,36442,00.html Just FYI... Thanks Lola I am sure I will come up with tons of ? one thing I was wondering is David said everything needs to be in very specific Directories I did notice some things were and some were not , so as I begin to add archives and link them should I move what is not in Directories over into directories < I am getting ready to do this on my Wilbarger page I think it makes things easier> Belle - - - Evelyn Belle Brooks Long http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~belle/ http://www.crafts.rootsweb.com/~quilting http://www.rootsweb.com/~txwilbar/index.html http://clik.to/ponds ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lola Withrow" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 19, 2000 9:40 PM Subject: Re: [TXARCHIVE] Welcome new archivist! > Belle, > > Welcome, happy that you decided to join us! For example, marriages should be in /vitals/marriage/ Deaths should be in /vitals/deaths/ Births should be in vitals/births/ The categories at listed at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/newstats.html If you don't use those specific directories, everyting will end up in misc. yuck the Misc directory for Texas went from 49 MB to 15 MB by moving things into the proper directories. Here are some you might have trouble with, so you can use this /history/school/ /history/quarterly/ /history/book/ Thanks for asking! David [email protected] David W. I was uploading the State Birth Records and found 13 files in the Rains Co. Directory, dated June 27 1999 that had never been posted on the TOC page. Thought each Archivist might want to check the directories in YOUR spare time. Ha! Gloria --
