Good morning Vernon, Your message bounced to me since you did not send with the address you used to subscribe. I don't mind forwarding but if you want them to go directly to the list you would need to subscribe any address you use. I prefer closed lists (you have to be a subscriber to post) so I can try to stop the SPAM that Rootsweb misses. I caught a porno message yesterday which is a rarity for a Rootsweb list. Some of the names you mention are familiar to me in this area. The surname I am researching is CROSS. THis is my husband's mother's surname-not to much info as everyone is now gone. I do know that mom's dad was born in Redland, Angelina CO. If you ever come across this surname, any help would be appreciated. Thanks once again for being list Admin. I am looking for descendants of Eugene Valentine GATES and Elinor Belle CORNELIUS who were originally from Redwater, Bowie County , Texas. Elinor ran a boarding house in Diboll, near Lufkin around 1910. Her husband Eugene was hauling lumber when he was accidentally shot by a young hunter. My line is the daughter Florence Rachel Gates who marrried James Arthur HUNT, one of the boarders. Anyone with a connection to these families contacet Barbara Hunt Gothie bhgothie@mindspring.com.
I am researching the McMickle's who lived in Angelina Co, in the late 1800's to 1929.
Thanks, Nance. I think it will be fun and will give me an opportunity to learn more about the county. I worked a short time for the census last fall and learned a lot about the area near where I live. I've been in Angelina County for the past 9 years and expect to die here. My husband retired 31 March of this year. I live 35 miles from Lufkin and 11 miles out of Zavalla. I am in the country so things are not real convenient but we love it out here. Hello Bettye and all, There are 35 subscribed to the TXANGELI-L and 16 subscribed to TXANGELI-D (digest) for a grand total of 51 subscribers. Not bad for a new list. By looking at the archives I would guess this list was created a short while ago. I guess when Rootsweb created the Resource page. It would be good to hear from everyone and know which surnames you are researching. I am not able to do lookups at this time but maybe in the near future I'll have some time to dedicate to lookups. Lufkin has a nice genealogical library. Let's hear from everyone. Their names are Michele McWilliams, who married Kenneth Ray Lewis in the 1960's & Elizabeth Lucille McWilliams, who married Ray Allen Wolford, also in the 60's. Their mother's name is Becky & their father's initials are R.D. Hopefully someone may know these ladies! Judy Jordan
