A. (Oscar Arthur??) "Doc" Whitton, died in Lufkin (Angelina), TX on 3-14-84, born 4-26-1914. PLEASE anyone with information about this man or any of his family contact me. He is my father's birth father though we never knew him and by the time we knew OF him, he had passed. We know he did marry at some point but we don't know if he ever had any children. My great-grandfather was named Alfred Sidney Woodrome who died in Huntington in 1942. I have a web site that I started last year but have not done much on. Posted on: Angelina Co., TX Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Angelina/10780 Surname: Bickerstaff, Carlisle, Routon, Smith, McLeod ------------------------- If someone has an index for Angelina County for these census years, would it be possible to find out if Zillie Ann Smith or her son Alexander (Alex) Smith were in the county at that time. They are both buried in Knight -Glendale Cemetery in Lufkin. Many thanks for your kindness and help.
I think that would possibly be Ryan's Chapel instead of Bryan's. -----Original Message----- From: Morris J. I can't recall any cemeteries right in Burke. The biggest one in the area is at Ryan's Chapel, 2-3 miles southwest of Burke. Keltys is a "suburb" of Lufkin located on the northwest side of the city. It was the site of a major lumber mill years ago, Angelina Lumber Co. as I recall.
