I'm connected to both of these families, Spinks and Grimes of Nacogdoches, TX. This is such an old posting, I'm not sure if you'll get this... Laurie Spinks/Bailey/Adkison/Grimes/Sullivan/Gant/Rose of Texas

Hi I am researching the Keen , Conner family line. William George(GW ) and Emma (Conner) were married in Angelina county in 1895. John Wesley was born in Lufkin,Texas in 1896 ( I also believe he had a brother named Jack born 1895 , and a sister name and birth unknown born in Angelina county as well) I also think GW is buried in Mills county (not positive, and no other info on them).Would appreciate any help, I've been stuck on this for sometime now. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give. Hazel
In the book Cemetery Records Angelina County, Texas, Volume 1, 1846-1968 on page 138 there is an Amanda SPENCE, 22 Jun 1831 - 17 Jul 1906 [wife of B. Spence]. Buried in the Knight - Glendale Cemeteries jm ----- Original Message ----- From: <johnsued@hal-pc.org> To: <TXANGELI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 15, 2001 3:25 PM Subject: [TXANGELI] Re: KELTYS > > Thanks you so much for your reply! It is the postoffice given by Amanda Spence when she applied for a pension in 1899. Her husband died April 1, 1889. Is there an old cemetery in that area that dates back to 1889? I am looking for a Bluford and Amanda Spence...certainly not a common name. Does Angelina County have a cemetery book? In looking at the Angelina Co. Cemetery Books1846- 1986, I found a J.C. Miles, b.31 Oct 1860, d. 20 Aug 1961, buried at Ryan Chappel Cemetery. Didn't find anything on Frances Elberta. Hope this helps.
Keltys was a saw-mill town where Angelina Co. Lumber Co. operated. It is within the city limits of Lufkin on Old Mill Road (Loop 36) off N. Raguet St.The old post office has been closed for years. However, there is a Keltys sub-station, part of the Lufkin Post Office. It islocated on N. Raguet St. at Old Mill Rd. Just wanted to clarify the location of Keltys.
I agree there must be a connection between Thomas Crawford of Angelina Co. TX and Jesse Crawford of Nacogdoches Co. Thomas served on the first commissioners in Angelina Co. after it was carved out of Nacogdoches Co. He was b. 20 Feb. 1806 TN and died 30 March 1878 Angelina Co. I've heard that he had a twin sister, Frances. Thomas was married to Martha Reynolds (a.k.a. Runnels), daughter of Isaac Reynolds. Martha was b. 13 Jan. 1813 TN, married Thomas Crawford 11 April 1830. She died 17 Dec. 1883 Angelina Co. Isaac Reynolds, b. ca 1795 SC (?) died 5 Jan. 1873 Cherokee Co. He served in the Republic of Texas Army.
Hello I'm looking for the father, mother and siblings of Thomas. He married Mary on 9-7-1862 in Angelina Co. He was born in 1839. Her parents were Benjaman Wheeler and Mary Chandler. Thomas and Mary's children were James Martin 1863, Benjamin, Frederic, Mary Jane, Jefferson and Ida. If you have any info please write. Thank you, Donna
My grandmother was Margaret Stephens Crawford and her grandmother was an Anderson. In fact, this Anderson (Octavia) I believe married a Jones when her husband died. My great grandfather was William Washington Stephens and his brother and sister were very small when their father died. After the Jones, I think she married a Teer. I know she died in another county. I can check my info if you wish. Contact me
Interesting enough, my g-grandmothers lived very close to "Susie White's" place, which was near an Indian Burial Ground in Peavy Switch (Hudson) in Angelina County. It was said by my mom's folks that Susie was supposed to have haunted the house place after her death. In fact, folks remember hearing panthers scream around her place (must have been they favorite area. By the way, panthers still have been seen in this area. My grandmother Harris was related to the Whites as well as my dad's people. Who is not related in this area????? Esp if your family has been here since 1830 or so.
My mother's great-grandmother was Ann White who married Robert Weeks and they were born around 1806 (have exact dates available) They lived in Newton Co in 1850, then Angelina. I would be very interested in anyone having info. It is very difficult to discover much when they were in Texas in 1850. Actually I believe they were here in 1836 or so. I do have bible records. Contact me
When I started researching Thomas Crawford more than twenty years ago, I too ran into a Brick wall. I found in the library where a Thomas 1806 was listed as being the first born of the Nacogdoches Crawford. Since Thomas settled on Crawford Creek which is near 2121 leading to Nacog, this seemed even more of a possibility. However, I was shot down. The person who listed this in the article was in Nacog but never contacted me. My old aunt said that her grandmother was a Runnels (and she had an Aunt Reynolds) and that there was a sister left in Tennessee. Would love to get together and work out this puzzle. In all these years, I have gotten no further. Though I do think that the Crawfords in Nacog are related in some way.
My grandfather's mother was Josephine Glass Allsbrooks. I have not researched much in the past 5-6 years, and I am trying to pick it up again. I do have some information on Ben Glass and family. One interesting thing was my mom said that when one of the Glass girls married an Allsbrooks that Mrs. Glas s, who had six girls, said that he broke her set of Glasses. My mom is Vera Allsbrook Crawford. She said that there were a lot of Glasses in the Beaumont/Houston area that was in her group.
Marlin Harris was my mom's first cousin. Her mother was Nancy Jane Harris Allsbrooks. Mom is Vera Allsbrooks Crawford; she is 85 years old and lives in Peavy Switch. Please contact me and perhaps I can help you with some information.
I have a lot of information on the Crawfords as well as other Angelina Co families. Have not research much in recent years but hope to get back in now. Would like to exchange information. thanks
I read your message. Actually a lot of Narroway are deceased relatives to my family. My aunt, Willie Mae Crawford married Elton Maloney, one of Florence's son. My grandfather's sister married a Thomas. If interested, please e-mail me.
what are the names of George W Burge's other children?
