Gary: I checked in Pioneer Families of Anderson County and it says that Louisa's father, Rolen W. Box, was on the Houston County Tax list in 1838 and was elected JP on 1 January 1839 in Houston County. Therefore it seems likely that any M/L might have been there. Sadly the Houston County records burned. But I would try Nacogdoches County just to know for sure. Jacob Sutton Morrow was on the tax roll in Houston County in 1839 and 1840, so it seems that Houston County was the most likely place for him to have obtained a marriage license. Now, maybe you can help me with a question. Another early settler in Henderson and Anderson Counties was Jacob Sutton and his wife Rhoda Hobby Bobo -- who came from Tennessee as well. Jacob Sutton was the son of James Huey Sutton and Polly Kirkland, grandson of Jacob Sutton and Ann Knox of South Carolina. I understand that Jacob Sutton Morrow's mother was a Sutton -- and have to wonder if she and James Huey Sutton might have been siblings, both children of the earlier Jacob Sutton. I have long wondered about that connection. The Sutton family was one of the earliest in the NW part of Anderson County, a particular focus of mine. I look forward to hearing from you. I have been unable to find any proof of this marriage. Does anyone know if the marriage records from Ft. Houston still exist, and where they might be located? > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
