The Paynes and Woodards were among the earliest settlers in Anderson County. I have a lot of information on the Woodards if you want it. I am also desperately trying to find which cemetery Thomas Payne and his second wife are buried in. I found all the Woodards in East Hill cemetery in Palestine on my last trip. I was also wondering if the county courthouse in Palestine had portraits of the sheriffs of Anderson County as my gg-grandfather, William K. Payne was sheriff from 1852-1856.
