Some of the persons are obvious from the 1870 and 1860 records and one of them should be a Sidney if it is correct Jolly family? I did not find James D Via in the 1880 and 1870 records….three letters and can not find a match. The 1870 record has Via’s in Carroll, Gibson and Obion counties, TN. I suggest you contact your local library and ask if they have the census soundex / index . Transcriptions are placed on index cards and the librarian can explain how to look if you can to search further back. 1840 census a total of 46 VIA families which only lists head of household names and a 10 year span on the age, majority of them in Albemarle county VA 1850 - VA - These are the oldest male Via’s . Most of the enumerator’s failed to note by each persons name where they were born and only wrote VA by the first person at the top of each page.
