My grandfather, Walter Eugene Johnston, born 27 Jan 1873, ??Anderson County ?? TX, died 14 Feb 1917, in Limestone County and married Mattie Lee Sikes on 25 Dec 1898 or 1899 in Limestone County. Family oral histories placed grandfather Johnston in Tennessee Colony before he arrived in Limestone County. I have located him; his widowed mother, Sarah Elizabeth; his sister, Lillian; and a cousin F.P. Goad in Precinct 2, Anderson County on the 1880 Census. The census document, had Sarah Elizabeth’s birthplace as Tennessee. Further oral histories identified his father, Wheat Johnston, as the grandson of Peter Johnston of Prince Edward County, VA and the nephew of Sen John Warfield Johnston and the brothers Generals Sydney and Joesph Johnston. However, I can find no trace of Wheat Johnston. I noticed you were also working the Johnston’s of Anderson County. I also saw there were more than one or two other Johnston households in Precinct 2 on that 1880 Census. Are you working the same Johnston line and do you know if any of these households may be related? Thanx for your help. Charlotte Berger
