    3. thank you, Bob, that's a lot of help as the site is very useful. unfortunately the two Goff's mentioned aren't the one I'm looking at. the two listed are Goff Bayou and Goff, Benson. the one I'm looking at looks like Goff Ruguilo???? there's no tail of a g below the line, so it may not be a g. there's no Goff under the USGenWeb TX site under Texas Towns. Goff being a surname and a common one, ferreting the town name out of the archives is impossible. a check of the county didn't help, either.
