I have looked at the Death/Obituary/Cemetery book (What a wonderful source! Thank you so much!) at the Carnegie Library. And I have found some very good information on many of my family members, but I still have some people I have not been able to trace. I want to know WHEN they died and WHERE they are buried, if possible. [And maybe learn a maiden name for my Elizabeth (Hamilton), married to Ira Griffin HAMILTON [m 1848 in SC, arrived in Anderson Co. 1857; Listed as Planter in Anderson Co. TX (Footprints, Vol. 25 pg 93: Planters and Farmers in Directory of TX 1890-91). Lived at Brushy Creek early, possibly buried at Mound Prairie, but not listed there...just as several other family members I am researching, I suspect.] Is it likely that I could find death certificates for people who died 1890 to 1910 in the Court House? Are there funeral homes who might have records for this time period? I plan to make a trip to Palestine soon, and I want to make the best use of my time-- so I appreciate very much any advice on how to find information on deaths in this period before 1903-4 when Texas mandated that deaths be recorded.
