Montalba, Anderson County, TX ( SEE TOWNSEND LINK) ****** Letter From Daisy Letter written to Almojo Hutchenson on the 5 June, 1967 Elizabeth (McDade) Jolley died in 1851, shortly thereafter Richard & Joseph decided to move their families to Texas. They had loaded all of their earthly belongings onto a ferry boat to cross the Mississippi in the vicinity of New Orleans. There was a fire, the ferry was badly burned and they lost everything. Sarah, wife of Joseph drowned and her baby daughter was lost and believed drowned. Joseph Carlyle, Joseph's other son was not a man to mince words according to his grandchildren. He was terribly upset over their losses and when the baby girl was located . John announced to the family that " he would be dammed if he would go another step, scooped up his baby sister and returned to Ga. and raised her as his own ( no name given..mlh). The rest of the family decided to go North to Arkansas rather than Texas. Joseph & his family settled in the area of Eldorodo, Union Co.Ark. where Joseph remarried to a Martha Cole. Daisy said her parents moved to Texas when she was quite young so she didn't know much about her grandfathers 2nd family. His brother Richard settled just across the county line in Bradley Co.Ark.. He also remarried to Dorcus Adeline Williams. She went on to say that Richards 3rd child Elizabeth married David R.Reid and they had 10 children all Girls!
