    1. Re: [TXANDERS] Willingham Family in Anderson, TX
    2. Haha Frances, It feels great to know that someone else is going around and around with all of these names. My gggrandfather Troy Griffin had a son named Ira Griffin. Ira Griffin was b. in Tuscaloosa, Al. on the l6th of July l830. Ira Griffin died Nov 20, l895 Fayette Co. Al . He was married to a Susan A. McFarline on the 31, Jan. l853. I have read that Ira Griffin was an artist. I do not know where Ralph, Tuscaloosa, Al. is located , but Troy Griffin, The Willinghams, The Poes, The Richards, The Robertsons lived in the N.W. part of Tuscaloosa Co., Al. then that part of Tuscaloosa Co., was changed to Fayette Co. The area that I have listed is where the Old Sheffield Post office was located in Bankston, Al. It is between Fayette and Tuscaloosa. In fact Ira Griffin is buried in Bakston Cem., Fayette Co. I have seen the name McNeil, Neal, and Neil thru out the migration of the Griffin name. From Ga. to Al., I do not know if they were in Virginia. In your letter you stated Lavina J. Snider Nell was b. Aug 8, l870 in Ga. married Jeesse Calhoun Neel in Tuscaloosa in l833. Was this a typical error since Ira Griffin Neal/Neel was b. Sept l835? I know Troy's family lived in S.C. Troy lived in Columbia Co., Ga. near Evens before he moved to Tuscaloosa, al. His first child , :Martha was b. in Ga on Sept l9, 1824. Frances , I have so many names surnames that my father gave me connected his family. The problem is he did not tell me which family. The Cooks, The Willinghams, The Robertsons, The Shephards, and the Freemans. I know he did tell me that we had Neals in our family. Bless his heart, he was trying to get me interested in family history, but I was only l3 and l4 at the time. Everytime I came in with a name of a new person I met at school, my Dad would say, "Sandra , we have such and such in our family". (Being the intelligent child that I was, I would roll my eyes and say sure we do!) Boy, have I regretted that action. LOL. I will see what I can find out and get back with you. I love genealogy and finding connections. I started in this when my daughter was taking Women's history at Texas A&M. I wanted to write a short story on her grandmother Griffin. That was 6 years ago. She loved going to Frankston with me one day. She was insulted that a man said he was going back to lock his car door because strangers were in town. I told her , if he only knew, we are probably kin in some way. LOL Will close for now and will keep your e-mail for further reference, Sincerely, Sunshine and soft breezes, Sandra
