Here is some information that I have about a Nathaniel Smith Middleton who you say is the brother of Joseph S. Middleton. Hope this helps. I have more on the Capps line but not the Middleton line. Johnny Smith NATHANIEL SMITH1 MIDDLETON was born August 26, 1836 in Cherokee County, Alabama, and died March 7, 1919 in Palestine, Anderson County, Texas. He married MARY JANE CAPPS October 13, 1863 in Anderson County, Texas, daughter of DIMON CAPPS and THIRSEY DUCKWORTH. She was born March 9, 1847 in Limestone County, Texas, and died November 1867 in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas. Notes for MARY JANE CAPPS: First wife of Nathaniel Smith Middleton. Died when daughter was born. Children of NATHANIEL MIDDLETON and MARY CAPPS are: WILLIAM DIAMOND2 MIDDLETON, b. 1866. MARY JANE MIDDLETON, b. 1868. ----- Original Message ----- From: <dvdsds11@aol.com> To: <TXANDERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, October 21, 2005 4:13 PM Subject: Re: MIDDLETON: John, Joseph, and Nathaniel > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XiB.2ACI/850.870.1.1.1.1.2.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Hello! Thank you so much for your efforts! I have looked and searched "under every rock" that I can think of! This Catherine Mosley seemed to be the only possibility that I could find, but would certainly love to have a "crumb' of proof. Seems Catherine and her children just disappeared until 1880 when I found a track of Dora & Samuel D. in Erath County with their father. ----- Original Message ----- From: "diana r leonard" <rosered48@sbcglobal.net> To: <TXANDERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 15, 2005 10:13 PM Subject: [[TXANDERS]] Re: [[TXANDERS]] Re: Anderson Co marriage look ups >I HAVE TRIED EVERY WAY POSSIBLE TO LOCATE CATHERINE MOSLEY/HARDEN/IN/ING. >I DID LOCATE CATHERINE MOSLEY IN THE CENSUS FOR ANDERSON CTY 1850 AGE 16. >ALSO THE SAME INFORMATION YOU HAVE FOR 1860. Gee, Thanks for the offer! No, I have not been able to determine the father of Samuel D. Apparently he was dead or something by 1840, if this is the correct Margaret that I found (and I think it probably is). In the 1830 census for Bedford County, TN there are many Hardin/en/ing families that could possibly fit, so I am really at a "wall " on that one. Samuel D. was married 3 times and sired 16 children that I have been able to locate names for on the census. Seems with all of these people descending from him there would be at least one other researching him! But, if so, I certainly haven't found them! Regular Meeting of East Texas Genealogical Society, Tyler, TX Saturday, October 8, 2005 Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium 2:00 p.m. Speaker: Marynell Bryant Program: "Using DNA to Identify Your Family Lineage" Marynell Bryant, Genealogical Researcher and Lecturer, will be sharing the history of genealogical DNA sequencing and surname studies, along with an explanation of scientific terms and test procedures. She says the term "genetic genealogy" may be new to the vocabulary but its significance to family researchers is growing daily. Genealogical DNA testing primarily involves the Y-chromosome which is passed from father to son through the generations. The significance to genealogists participating in the DNA surname studies is finding other individuals whose DNA matches closely and then comparing the lineages to identify the most recent common ancestor. DNA surname studies are useful not only to the male participants but to any researcher who has a connection to that particular surname. Marynell says that genealogists can identify, prove, and extend their family lineages through this new scientific breakthrough. The implications for what genetic genealogy can help family researchers achieve are exciting and challenging. The next few years will see an even greater growth in the number of DNA surname projects as genes actually provide proof of our lineages. Marynell is DNA Surname Project administrator for Rainey group study; current president of Hopkins County Genealogical Society; instructor of genealogical courses at Paris Junior College; past President of Texas State Genealogical Society, 1990-1993, and lecturer for genealogical society meetings and seminars in Texas and Arkansas. Following a short refreshment period, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Computer Interest Group of the East Texas Genealogical Society will meet.
