I always hope to locate some of my grandfather's family after they moved to Texas. Elmer Cole was the youngest child of John M. and Alice Cole. John died in 1896 in Whitewright, TX and Alice moved her family to Brushy Creek after he died. Being the youngest the others were grown and lived out of the area. I remember meeting some of their grandchildren when my grandfather died.Alice lived with my grandfather for the rest of her life. Phillip Cole(1770) is my dead end going the other way. Did any of your Amanda Cook's family live in this area?

The census shows her being the granddaughter of Daniel Brown and his wife, Harrett. Harrett's nee name was Bell. I speculate Emma was the daughter of Daniel's eldest son, John Brown, who was also enumerated in the 1880 census of Anderson County and living close to the Daniel Brown family. If so, Emma was most likely a daughter of John's by a previous marriage since the children in John's household were ages 4 & 2 and their mother, Louesa, was born in Alabama, while the census states Emma's mother was born in Mississippi. The Daniel Brown family were enumerated in McLennan County, TX in 1860. At that time John Brown was 13 years old. My husband is a descendent of Daniel & Harrett through their daughter, Martha "Mattie" Brown Cash. Kathy Baker Holly Lake Ranch, TX
