Hi Judy, I am sorry but I do not have most of the issues available to do look-ups. This is the message that I do send out about the availability of individual issues for purchase: East Texas Family Records The issues that are available are for sale for $5.00 each (postage paid). They can be ordered from East Texas Genealogical Society, PO Box 6967, Tyler, TX 75711-6967. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks or so for delivery. Our volunteers do this as soon as they can, but it has to go through several volunteers (handling mail, handling money & order filling people) before final mail-out. ETGS is in the process of putting up most of the articles that are in the out-of-print issues on the web. We do not have any time table for this, but we are working on it. You can check for the out of print articles at the following link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txetgs/etfrindex.html This link also has a full-name index for the first 11 volumes and an index to the articles. I am trying to find two Barfield boys, John and William, who were in Hempstead Co. AR in Nov 1825. I have only one record of them, but I am very interested in them. . I am a descendant of Hiram.McCanles, who was found on the bank of a creek (or some say the Red River), apparently an orphan. I would like to make a connection between these Barfields and my Hiram McCanles. Peter Leatherman was the guardian of Hiram McCanles and also the two BARFIELD boys in 1825. We do not know if the Barfield boys were found WITH Hiram, or were just two more homeless children whom the court was trying to find homes for. (Hiram was placed with Willis Wilson --aka "Uncle Billy"). We know Hiram was "nearly" 14 from later census records, but we do not know the ages of the BARFIELD boys or what became of them. If you have any information, I would appreciate it very much. November Term 1825 Ordered that Peter Leatherman be appointed guardian to Hiram McCanles, John Barfield & William Barfield, infants under the age of fourteen years. Upon his swearing into bond with security in the Sum of two hundred and fifty dollars and that he be authorized to bind out said infants to suitable persons. I am looking for information on Charles Granville Stewart, b. 5/11/1822 in Rankin County Mississippi, d. 11/23/1893 in Anderson County, Texas. He came to Texas early, arriving 3/4/1837. He was in Bradley County Arkansas on 11/15/1850 for the census, married to Mary Brummett with 3 children. By 7/10/1860 the family was in Anderson County, Beat # 6 for the census. He was still married to Mary and there were 7 children. They lived on their farm at Alderbranch near the Providence Church & Cemetery. There was an epidemic in the early 1860's during which Mary and all but 3 of the children died. Sometime after the death of Mary and children, he married widow Lucy Mullens Mainer. I have been told that he married Isabella Webb Ross after Mary's death and before he married Lucy. I would appreciate any information regarding this marriage. Are there records for the Old Providence Church from the 1860's? Would the marriage have been filed with the County? Thanks. Don Stewart 281-242-6628 208-978-1440 (Fax)
