Thanks everyone who responded to my pronunciation question! I could have sworn my grandmother, who was born there in 1881, said it the other way, as in the Middle Eastern thing, but then my little girl memory must have been wrong! Judy

Can someone please give me the correct pronunciation of Palestine...is the last syllable with a long "I" as in "pine" or short "I" as in "teen". Thanks, Judy
Judy, I was raised in Palestine; we always referred to the City as Pales teen instead of as Pales tine. But as a joke I tell many people that I am from Pales tine, the city of CHURCHES; a church on every corner. Hello list, I am researching the Will Lloyd WIGGINS family (and the CLEM family). The Clem Lumber Co. had a saw mill in Frankston. I don't know when it opened, but my ggrandfather, Will WIGGINS, ran the mill during WWI. Does anyone know if there are any signs of the mill still existing? Would it be worth a trip to Frankston? Thank you!! Cindy [email protected]
