George Martin believed to be brother of William. Julia Martin died in l929 in Anderson Co Texas in the home of Mrs E. E. Bentley, a granddaughter. Will exchange information.

I am trying to research my great grandfather, William Madison King. His parents were David King and Jane Bird. Does anyone recognize these names from their research. They came from Alabama and I did find them in the Anderson County census in 1880 (I believe). Thanks. Denise

Mr. Lebowitz, Did you receive the material I sent you on William K. Payne and is it o.k. for me to send this kind of information? The Paynes and Woodards were among the earliest settlers in Anderson County. I have a lot of information on the Woodards if you want it. I am also desperately trying to find which cemetery Thomas Payne and his second wife are buried in. I found all the Woodards in East Hill cemetery in Palestine on my last trip. I was also wondering if the county courthouse in Palestine had portraits of the sheriffs of Anderson County as my gg-grandfather, William K. Payne was sheriff from 1852-1856. Have you checked Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart, Texas? A good number of the Quarles family is buried there.
