Does anyone have a membership roll for camp 770 Woodmen of the World lodge in Forney TX (Kaufman County) around 1905 ? I have a picture of this group. _______________________________________________ Roger Arrick Roger@Arrick.com Tyler, TX
My GG-Grandfather, John Howard Davis, was a member of "Woodsmen of the World." When he died, the local organization in Kerrville, Kerr, TX buried him and erected a beautiful headstone. If the W.O.W. organization has family information about John Howard Davis, I would greatly appreciate a copy. This is the information that I have: John Howard DAVIS born: 10 Dec 1848 in Louisville or Lexington, KY died: 3 Aug 1908 in Aberdeen, Washington buried: in Kerrville, TX (Glen Rest Cemetery) His father was: Richard Johnson Davis, born in KY - 1810/1811, buried in San Antonio, Bexar, TX, 1903, (City Cemetery # 2). His mother was: Sarah Anne Ware Davis, born in Hopkinsville, Christian, KY - 1828, buried in San Antonio, Bexar, TX, 1897 (City Cemetery # 2). John K. Kelley born abt 1864 in (? Cass County TX), married Anna Dean and had 3 children, 2nd marriage Elizabeth (Lizzie) Whitson had several more children. He seemed to have lived in the area of the Texas counties of Red River, Lamar and Bowie all his married life. He died in Manchester, TX, Red River County 16 Jan. 1938. Most of the information I have on his parents are hear-say. We strongly think he had family in the Hugo, Oklahoma area. He lived in Valiant, OK in 1935(?).
Thanks for the info. It doesn't sound like our Kelley/Kelly families are connected. Maybe a long ways back, but I can't seem to GET a long ways back with this family. Well, we just have to keep plugging...... My great-grandfather has a Woodmen of The World monument on his grave. I have had absolutely NO LUCK in finding anyone who can help me with any info. His name is Elkanah (although on the monument it says "L Caney" Waters. He was b 9 Oct 1858 GA and died 22 Oct 1917. He married Nancy Missouri Whitten. He is buried at Gardner Community, Milam Co, TX. Surely there were some records kept someplace! I would like info on his parents, etc.... Sue Stepp bbm34@prodigy.net ----- Original Message -----
Greetings, List: It is time once again for our twice-a-year Roll Call. As most of you know who have been on the list a while, Roll Calls are conducted once between Christmas and the new year and once after Memorial Day. To participate in the roll call, send a message to the list which meets the following guidelines: 1.) Includes in the subject line the words ROLL CALL and the surname such as: "Roll Call: DOE" 2.) Include in the message a brief synopsis of the information you have on the family as well as any additional information you are seeking. 3.) Include your EMAIL ADDRESS; replies to roll call postings should be done off-list. 4.) Include the URL of your genealogy webpage, if you have one. Please keep your messages short, but include any pertinent information that would help another reader determine whether or not they have information which would pertain to your line. Also, remember that these messages are ARCHIVED through rootsweb, so even if you don't find the information you are looking for now, someone doing a search may find your message later and be able to assist you. If you have questions, please feel free to ask. The roll call will run from May 26 until June 2, 2003 at midnight, EST. Please don't post roll call messages after that time. Also, please remember that we do a roll call twice a year and that only the listmanager can call a roll call. This is because, as new members join the group, if each one posted a roll call, that would take up a great deal of the lists' time. Thanks, Vince Leibowitz
Seeking information on John Brackenridge Adams, born 3/12/1877, Elmore Co, AL; died 10/31/1938, Bonham, Fannin Co, TX. My gg grandfather William H. Campbell has a woodman marker I think. He died in 1880s though? In Centerville. During his adult life he lived under an alias, Sport Houston. The family is listed as Houston on the census records, until afther his death. He is burried as a Campbell. He owned the Limerick Saloon in Centerville as of 1869 and he advertised in the newspaper of that time called the Experiment. His tombstone reads" The Lord Loveth a Cheerful Giver" Any information about him would be appreciated. Karen Moore Kerr __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
