    3. Hi Anelle, This is what you have to do to qualify for the Order of The Indian Wars, but first you must absolutely get another member to "invite" you to join. Basically you must be able to document descent from an ancestor who fought in one of the early Indian Wars. Here is their website; http://www.oiwus.org/ Sarah ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anelle Kloski" <akloski@hughes.net> To: <tx-veterans@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 19, 2007 2:42 PM Subject: Re: [TX-VETERANS] Order of The Indian Wars >I do not know about that group, but it sounds interesting. 3. I do not know about that group, but it sounds interesting. My father, Frank McCarty, knew an older Texas man named Captain John Elkins, who fought the Indians at various times and places, and my father wrote a book for him, INDIAN FIGHTING ON THE TEXAS FRONTIER. My father had only one copy but a few years ago I located some remaining copies in someone's garage, and now a few of them have been up for sale. The copies are very expensive now and some bookseller has given out incorrect information about the history of the book, but I guess that doesnt matter really. Except that I am a librarian and like to have these detaills correct. Anyway, how would one qualify for that Order nowadays? Anelle McCarty Kloski
