    1. Dziuk in Panna Maria
    2. Sonja Nishimoto
    3. Hello, was wondering if anyone was researching the Dziuk family of Panna Maria? My 2nd or 3rd great Uncle was probably the first Dziuk that settled there from Koschentin, Prussia. Would love to hear from others of this family. 3. Hi, My name is Lee Uroda, I am researching the family surname Uroda. There are at least two Uroda family groups in Texas. One group is from the island town of Betina near the coast of Croatia, the second group is from the town of Zator, Poland. Although I am interested in all Uroda genealogy, I am most interested in the Zator group because that's where my father was born. On June 17,1921, Johanna Uroda, her daughter Anna, age 21, and Johanna's two sons, Mishal, age 18, and Wladyslaw, age 15, arrived at Ellis Island on board the Estonia. They were sponsored by Johanna's son-in-law, L.Schanzer of Hitchcock, Texas. Any information about this family or any of the other Texas Uroda families will be greatly appreciated. Thank you Lee Uroda Orange County, Calif. [email protected] Researching: Uroda, Boba, Kobylanski, Urbanicryk, Mitoraj, Puchala

    1. Annual Roll Call
    2. Vince Leibowitz
    3. Dear List Members: Every year around this time, I post a call for an annual "roll call." Since so many families get new computers around the holidays and, because the period between December 15 and January 1 usually witnesses the largest growth of lists, this seems the perfect time to do it. So, between now and January 1, please feel free to post your "roll call" post. What is a roll call post? A roll call post is one in which you list the surnames you are researching and brief information about the lines you are seeking information on as they relate to the geographic nature of the list. A sample roll call message should look like this: "Researching the family of John DOE, b. 1837 Sagamon County, Ill, d. December 12, 1900, Rains County, TX. m. Susan JONES, December 1, 1860, Titus County, TX. Allied surnames include JOHNSON, SMITH, JONES, PETERS, ANDREWS." You may also wish to include any other pertinent information such as birtdates, places of burial, siblings, children, other places lived, etc. Essentially, include anything that may be helpful to other researchers to determine if they are related to your line. Also, if you are looking for any specific information like the burial location of someone, you may wish to include that. When posting the message, PLEASE phrase the subject as follows: "ROLL CALL: Researching DOE, JONES & SMITH" or something along those lines. Finally, please do not respond to this message! To post your roll call, please send the message to the list. The address for the list is "[email protected]" where "listname" is the name of the list. Happy Holidays, Vince Leibowitz List Administrator

    3. Hello and Merry Christmas! I hope the new year will be a great one for you. Push Not the River, based on the diary of a Polish countess, came out in paperback this fall and is doing very well. People are reading it for their book clubs as well as giving it as gifts (a great stocking stuffer). The sequel is now set for early '06. Most exciting is that BookSense, a consortium of 1200 independent bookstores, voted it an October 2004 Recommendation. Also, it will come out in Polish in the spring. I hope your year is as blessed! 3. Yes, I would very much be interested in this book. Do you have a list of the couples profiled (or do I need to buy the book for that?) How much is the book and how do I order? )Also - is there a volume I?) 1. [TX-POLISH] Mildred KAMINSKI Obit: 10/13/03
    2. Vince Leibowitz
    3. Lists, Does anyone happen to have a copy of an obituary for Mildred KAMINSKI, who died October 13 of this year in Taylor (TX)? She was my great-aunt and I'd like a copy. She was Czech (I don't have her maiden name handy) but she married my grandmother's brother, Henry KAMINSKI, who was (obviously) of Polish descent. She died in the KZJT nursing home, according to what another great aunt told me this evening. Thanks, Vince Leibowitz [email protected] One reason I'd like it is to see if there are places for memorials to be sent.

    3. A MOTHER'S SILENT PRAYER A Sailor now serving our country. A man by all measure, yet a boy always in her heart. An oath has been sworn The Sailor leaves to make his way. His is a new family now with siblings the world over. Yet a tiny rural town tugs at his heart, with an eternal reminder of another oath, another bond, another family, and his Mom, who sends him blessings every morning for a safe day. And whispers his name every night, that his life be an honorable one. A Mother's silent prayer for a son whom she knows, may never come home again. @sarah elizabeth rose (Veteran, and mother of son, currently serving) My poetry site: http://users.rosenet.net/poetryandroses/ My Genealogy site: http://www.gaia.edu/genclass/srose/

    1. [TX-POLISH] bookplate offer and Sun-Times
    2. Jim Martin
    3. Hi, all, I was at the Polish Genealogical Society of America's Conference a couple of weeks ago signing the St. Martin's Press edition of my novel Push Not the River, and I had a great time. It seems a whole group of people had already read the book and they really set a buzz going. I met a lot of wonderful people and sold a lot of books. Push Not the River is a novel based on the actual diary of a Polish countess who lived through the rise and fall of the Third of May Constitution. Library Journal says, Push Not the River "holds the reader because of the cast of well-developed characters and the need to see how Anna. . . will survive. . . . While [readers] of Polish ancestry may feel a special affinity for this first novel, other historical [fiction] fans will enjoy it as well." Visit my website for more info and reviews. The book is available everywhere now, and I would like to offer everyone an autographed bookplate for your book. (More than one is fine if it's to be a gift as well; Christmas is coming up!) Just e-mail me with your address and let me know if you want it inscribed in any particular way. James Conroyd Martin Author of PUSH NOT THE RIVER for reviews and free chapters, go to www.PushNotTheRiver.com Also, here's a major feature from the Chicago Sun-Times called "Beyond Polish Borders." http://www.suntimes.com/output/entertainment/cst-ftr-martin15.html Forgive me if this is a repeated message, but I think the first one bounced.
