C. GRAY Article Text: Marshall, Tex., Feb. 13.--Dr. Hiram C. GRAY died at his residence on east Austin street at 9 a.m. yesterday, and was buried in Greenwood cemetery at 10 a.m. to-day with masonic honors. He was born in Smith county, Tenn. Aug. 28,1824, and moved to Harrison county, Tex., in 1831. He served in the war between the United States and Mexico, and was a confederate soldier during the war between the states. He played an important part in the struggle which eventuated in the triumph of the citizen's party in this county, and inaugurated honest government upon the ruins of carpet bag and scalawag misrule. He stood high as a physician and citizen. He leaves a wife and five children.
