Dr. STUART. Article Text: Waxahachie, Tex., Feb. 1.--Rev. Dr. STUART, who died recently, after teaching school for several years read law in 1858, was admitted to the bar and practiced for two years in Richmond, Va. In 1860 he moved to Mansfield, La., and from there in 1874 moved to this city, where he was elected prinipal of the Masonic female institute which position he held most satisfactorily until 1885. On giving up this position he established a select school for young ladies which with his wife as assistant teacher he has kept up until his death, though he was unable on account of his failing health to teach much since last June. He was dearly beloved by his pupils and many a young mother has longed for the day that her little girl would "ready to start to school to my old teacher, Mr. STUART." Dr. STUART was a minister of the Methodist church for forty years. He was truly a christian gentleman. Those who knew him longest and best loved him more. A fond wife and six children survive him! . A son, Mr. H. L. STUART, is a practicing lawyer, who resides at Gainesville. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ TX-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
