The farmers are all very busy trying to get some of the grass killed before it gets too much of a headway. Nearly everyone has their cotton planted but some are afraid they will have to plant over. Some few are through thinning corn while others have not started. The good women have real pretty gardens now. Everything is pretty and growing fast. Very soon the table will be loaded with peas, potatoes and other good things. Ode Green was taken to Tyler to a sanatarium (sic) Saturday and operated upon for appendicitis. We are glad to report him as improving and trust he will soon be able to come home. The good neighbors are going to give Mr. Green a day’s work this week. We hope a large number will be present. Brother Edwards of Athens preached at Concord Sunday. He is to be the regular pastor. He preached a fine sermon and we feel sure he will do good work there. Mrs. J. H. Weatherly has been on the sick list but we are glad to report her much better. Mrs. Goodgame of Athens spent a few days last week with Miss Willie Speaks. Mr. and Mrs. F. Gimble, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Beal, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Green and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Doughy spent Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Larkin. Well, the candidates are getting pretty thick around in this part of the country. We are in hopes the most deserving wins out. Of course some one is going to be left behind. In the trustee election of April 5. Mr. George Conor was elected. We feel sure Mr. Connor (spelled both ways in this article) will make us a good trustee. There was a large crowd present at the singing last third Sunday evening. They certainly sang well and we extend an invitation for them all to be back the next third Sunday in May. Several from here attended an Easter Egg Hunt at Mr. Lawrence Maynards after the singing on third Sunday evening. A nice time was reported. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ TX-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news! TM http://www.NewspaperAbstracts.com
