    3. Elaine, There are a number of unrelated Wasserman lines in my tree - my mother's father from Lithuania, my father's distant cousins from Galicia/the Ukraine, and others. Re Goren: my wife's father shortened it from Gorenstein. She has no Gorenstein relatives in Texas, at least as far as we have been able to trace. Her father has a GD of 3 on y (R1a1 - Ashkenazi Levite) with Bennett Greenstein (Polish ancestry) on FTDNA. I'm looking in my software and I find you, Sam ROOSTH, and Jennie WASSERMAN, a couple of other Wassermans-- and I can't figure out how they connect. I have this problem with Reunion sometimes. Probably not Reunion's problem, but mine! I also remember that we are connected through Family Finder (5th-distant, I believe) but we had determined it was not through the Wasserman/Roosth connection. Not sure we had established a connection between the two Wasserman families, either. I noticed on your family website the names GOREN and GORENSTEIN. I've been trying to connect a family of Gorens (also related to my family from Texas) and have finally found the connection through a MNUCHIN website on MyHeritage. My Texas mother was very close to this family-- incuded Lyuba MNUCHIN LIFCHITZ and had visited them in Israel. I'm wondering if your Gorens connect to mine (was Greenstain)? The MyHeritage website belongs to Mordechai Mnuchin. Perhaps you might want to check it out. He does have a few GREENSTAINs who do not show descendants. I can't read their first names (in Hebrew)-- perhaps you can? I should mention, also, that in looking at that site and having conversations with Mordechai, that my ggrandmother, Sarah Raisa Davis was likely *not* a Mnuchin, although it is possible. Her death certificate does have mother Mnuchina and father Richlin. According to Mordechai's info, her father was Mordechai RACHLIN and mother unknown. They were connected to the Mnuchins through marriage. Since there's no action on this list-- I thought I respond here and inject a little life! Please feel free to respond here or my private email. Nice to connect again. ...Just noticed Goren is on your wife's side! Must not be our familyfinder connection, then! Very nice website, Max. 3. Elaine, I'm here. I'm third-generation Texan via one grandparent and second-generation via the other three. Hi y'all, I just joined this list, checked the archives and found....well....not much! My DAVIS / FRUMHOFF family ended up in East Texas after following the oil fields through Oklahoma and Louisiana in the early 1920s. According to my mother, the FRUMHOFFs were the only Jewish family in Overton, TX and the pastor of the local church used to bring my grandmother an Easter lilly every Easter! My grandfather, Isadore FRUMHOFF was the proprietor of the 5 & dime-- I believe it was a Kress Store in downtown Overton. They lived right across the street from the school and my family used to visit my grandmother and grandfather in the 1950's and '60s. When I google mapped it recently-- it was, not surprisingly, unrecognizable! Other DAVIS family members lived in Kilgore ->Tyler and the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. Kaplans Ben-Hur Department Store was owned by a relative. I had written to the Overton library, hoping to find photos of my grandfather's store, but did not receive a reply back from them. Any suggestions for furthering my search would be appreciated. Please feel free to check my tree for familiar people. Adams, believe it or not, was his name in poland. ?The english were not strangers to the name adams. ? ?Where does one go for these records in Whales? ?You were on the right track when you found the Texas list of jews. ?Galveston Texas was where they landed, and then were dispersed all over the country. ?Galveston, and other ports became common because the East side of New York was severely overcrowded. ?Some of the wealthy aristocratic jews, ?Googenheim, ?Rosenthal, etc. went to washington (state department) and worked out this deal. 3. Dear Lindsay, For what it's worth, the Social Security Death Index lists a Myra B. Davis, born 19 December 1914, who died 10 February 1998, in St. Louis, Missouri. The SSDI also lists a Paul Davis, born 28 August 1909, who died in St. Louis in December 1980. Since his social security card was issued in the State of Missouri, he is probably not the same individual as your serviceman Paul Davis with a Texas connection. 1. [TX-JEWISH] Texas Synagogues: Photography & History E-Book
    2. Julian H. Preisler
    3. Dear List Members: I want to let all of you know of an E-Book I recently published featuring over 3200 original larger color photographs of 1410 individual US synagogue buildings. The E-Book features synagogue photographs from all 50 States and Washington DC and also contains basic historical data on each congregation featured. The Texas section is rather large featuring 117 original nice sized photos of 48 individual Texas synagogue buildings. Many of these synagogue buildings are located in small towns and isolated communities and many are no longer used for Jewish worship. This cd-rom is Volume One of a planned two volume series. Many people have found this resource helpful when looking for photographs of synagogues with family connections, etc. Anyone interested in Texas Jewish history, American Jewish history or synagogue architecture and design will find it to be a valuable resource. All the details and ordering information can be found on my website: www.AmericanSynagogueArchitecture.com There are 3 sample pages from the E-Book on the website so you can see how the pages look and the information that is provided. 1. ROLL CALL: Researching Max or Willie GINSBURG
    2. Max Heffler
    3. ROLL CALL: Researching Max or Willie GINSBURG My grandfather, Mike Ivan HEFFLER, has a sister. My family seems to think her name became Sarah GINSBERG and lived in Brooklyn. They were not sure of the spelling of her married name. She had two sons, Max and Willie. My family says Willie was stationed in San Antonio in about 1942 or 1943 when he came to visit the Mike HEFFLER family in Houston. I am not 100% sure of the surname. It is not the easiest surname for Brooklyn searches.
