    3. Hi Gang! I've been gathering demos of genealogy programs to check out, and happened to think that some of you might like to check them out too, but lack the bandwidth to download some of these demos (some of them are 40 megs or larger!) If anyone is interested, just let me know, and I can burn these demos to a CD for you to try. The programs I've downloaded so far include: ByGones V9 - a program for organizing your research data GEDCOM Viewer - a nice little program that allows you to directly view GEDCOM files before you import any of into your system. You can also cut and paste to clip out portions of the GEDCOM file of interest to you. GenSmart - this is sort of an artificial intelligence program that reviews your data and suggests areas you might want to consider further research in. GenPro V1.99 - This is a program that uses your data to create very large family tree and relationship charts Legacy V6 - A genealogy program for tracing your family roots. This is a new release that looks like it holds some promise. RootsMagic V3 - another genealogy program touted as easy to use. The Master Genealogist V6 - This one is supposed to be the be all and do all genealogy program for professional genealogists. The user guide is also available in Adobe Acrobat .pdf format. Personal Ancestry File V5.2 - PAF is the free geneaogy program used by many in the LDS church. PAF Companion 5.2 - This is an optional add-on to PAF that generates some additional report and family tree formats. The manual is also available in Adobe Acrobat .pdf format. Also, for those who may not know about it, Ancestry.com is offering a promotional now over the radio (at least on Smooth Jazz 107.5) where you can get a free copy of their Family Tree Maker for calling them. I'm sure you will have to hear a sales pitch about subscribing to Ancestry.com, but hey! at least you can get a decent genealogy program for doing so. I personally prefer FTM V11 for my genealogy program of choice, but FTM 2005 isn't bad either, and the price is certainly right! Cheers, Phil
