    1. [TX-ETGS] Susie Perkins inquery on "Tinkle" surname

    3. Susie , While browsing the Rusk County query board I found your correspondence with Scott Fttzgerald regarding the "Tinkle" surname. When visiting Rusk County's extreme S.E. corner where the county line adjoins the Attoyac Bayou at the Shelby and Nacogdoches County line. there is in that general area a Lake Tinkle, assumed to have been named for a family of the surname "Tinkle". This lake 's location is just off of Texas Farm Road 95 which runs from Texas Hwy 103 between San Augustine and Lufkin north thru Martinville in Nacogdoches County and terminates at an intersection with Hwy 259 just south of Henderson in Rusk County. It is my presumption that this lake was named for a Tinkle family. Could this be the family to which your e-mail with Scott Fitzgerald makes reference? 3. Charles, Thanks for the input. This could very well be the 'Tinkle' family I am looking for. I have researched two Tinkle families that were in that area at the same time. Research on each family and so far have not been able to find a connection to each other. Both go back to the 1790's and both followed each around the East and South. The connection will probably be in Europe somewhere. I will certainly check out the area you have written about. I know that Thaddeus Tinkle was in Rust County, Tx. and may have died there about 1887. The Tinkle Lake could have been named for either of the Tinkle families, Both was land owners as well. Again thanks for a new clue.
