    3. Susie - have you checked out the Texas General Land Office records on either side of your lines in Upshur - paternal and maternal? Occasionally, vacant lands were still available in 1870s and later. If you have access on internet through Ancestry, try both names and see if any are located with Upshur Co. headright land. Check out county boundary changes too. Order the Upshur tax and deed records (on microfilm) from the nearest LDS family history center and check those out as well. And have you read the history of Upshur County; maybe that will help? Try out a query in that county too. Advertise for Bible records. You never know what will turn up. Good luck!
