    3. Regular Meeting of East Texas Genealogical Society, Tyler, TX Saturday, May 12, 2007 Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium 2:00 p.m. Speaker: Debbie Parker Wayne Program: "Enhancing Your Civil War Story: The Official Records of the U. S. Civil War" The Official Records of the American Civil War, or more simply the "Official Records" or "OR" constitute a unique, authentic, comprehensive collection of first-hand accounts, orders, reports, and correspondence drawn from War and Navy Department records of both Confederate and Union governments. Would you like to add historical context to your Civil War ancestor's biography? Then join us as Debbie Parker Wayne describes the contents of the Official Records, citing case studies to demonstrate use of the information to enhance a family narrative. In addition to methods that can be used with both print and electronic versions of the Official Records, Debbie will give tips for using CD-Rom versions. Starting out as a computer technician, Debbie spent over 25 years in the computer industry. As her education and skill levels increased she moved into training, technical support, computer programming, web design, and database administration. In 1990 her interest and experience with computers provided a perfect complement to a new-found interest in genealogical and family history research. Since then she has worked to expand her own family history and genealogy. Debbie's memberships include: Association of Professional Genealogists, Genealogical Speakers Guild, International Society of Genetic Genealogy, National Genealogical Society, Texas State Genealogical Society, where she serves as District 7 Representative, ETGS, Nacogdoches Genealogical Society, serving as Publications Editor/Committee Chairman, and Angelina County Genealogical Society. Following a short refreshment period, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Computer Interest Group of the East Texas Genealogical Society will meet. Barbara Galbreath will present a program on "What's in the Tyler Library and how to use their Resource Material and Computers".
