    3. Hello tx-etgs, I am seeking info that would lead me to identify the parent of Sarah Hyde who lived and died in Tyler Texas. She was the wife of Robert Bowlin Lewter. These names have a lot of variant spellings too such as Bolen Bolling and Bolden for the middle name of Robert and Lewter, Luter Leuter and so on for the surname. Sarah married Robert Luter as a young widow. Her maiden name was Hyde but she was married to someone with the surname Franklin first and was then widowed. I have never found the marriage record between her and Franklin. She is NOT the same Sarah Hyde who is the daughter of Anthony Gray Hyde of Nacodoches even though they are nearly the same age. Though it is suspected she may be related to the Anthony Gray Hydes, nothing can be determined until her parents are identified. Sarah Hyde says she was born in Arkansas around 1855. She says on Civil War pension papers she lived in Texas 50 years. She does not appear on any census that I have found with either her maiden name of Hyde nor her first marriage name of Franklin. She first appears on a census record as Sarah Lewter. I have her marriage record to Robert from Tyler, Texas, I have both of their death certificates, I know where they are buried though they seem to have no headstones, their place of burial is listed on their death certificates. I have a cousin I communicate with who seems to be descended from a brother of Sarah Hyde whose name is thought to be John. There was also possibly a sister of both of them but so far their relationships to one another is supposition. I would very much like to find someone who knows anything that could lead to the identification of the parents of this Sarah Hyde who married Robert Lewter. At one time the Lewter family was prominent in Tyler. Robert Lewter's father Jonathan Luter was for many years the State Legislator for Smith County. I know most all about my Lewter ancestors and have their records back to 1700' Virginia, but nothing is known about my Hyde line save that Sarah Hyde. It is possible she may have been young enough when she married Franklin that a parent had to co-sign some form for the marriage to occur. She died in 1914 in Tyler, Texas. She was married to Robert Lewter in Tyler on December 24, 1876 in Tyler. Surely there is some record besides what I have of someone who lived most of their lives in the same place. My cousin Ed Hyde who is descended from Sarah's brother or one of them if she had more than one has tried through the Tyler library to gain more info. He has a few new articles about Robert and post Civil War activities, but not anything where we can find our mutual Hyde grandparents. I am hoping someone on this list will know something. Thanks Barb -- Best regards, Barbara mailto:firebird@taela.net
