This statement is especially true if your ancestor died without leaving a will, If he left no will, but you know he owned property, this could be your lucky break. Most family researchers know to check for a will. Many stop there, whether they find a will or not, and never look for other records created by the probate process. Using case studies and other examples, this month's presentation examines the various kinds of probate records-wills and other estate records-with special emphasis on what we can learn about our ancestors from these records. Thank you so much for all the tips on land in 1870s at East Mountain area. Some say that area was so like the farmlands of GA. My Medlins came from Cobb County, GA. Seems I remember we no longer can have access to records online regarding births and deaths from long ago, is that correct? If so could someone tell me how I might find the death certificate, that is even if it exists, for a Malcolm Buie Brooks, died after 1910. He would have been 80 in the 1910 census which I have. He died in Upshur County. Thank you, Sue K in Seattle ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

This Buie name is of interest to me.One of my cousins is Patsy Buie--now she is maried, so her name may has changed to Thompson. She lives in Mississippi now. I am related through the Killebrew side of her tree. I also know a Brooks family in Anderson Co in Tx. Is Upshur in east Tx? At any rate do I understand that correctly that you have Buie's in east Tx? Karen Kerr --------------------------------- Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell.
