    3. I know, I know. Shower me with praise and I will keep on and keep on trying until I turn blue. This appears to be the same as the Cates family enumerated in 1850 Henry County, Georgia. Again, with just initials, but at least the family makeup is the same. Hint: I searched at Ancestry for anyone enumerated as "A. J." in 1860 Cass County and went through the list checking all those who looked promising until I found one with an apparent father with an "A" initial born NC and an apparent mother with initials "MA" born GA. This family was enumerated not only with initials only, but as Carter instead of Cates, which made finding them practically impossible: 1860 Cass County, Texas - Beat 1 - PO Linden - October 9, 1860 - page 354 104 - A. Carter, age 43, male; farmer; $3000/500; born NC M. A., age 37, female; born GA V., age 20, male; farmer; /$150; born GA J. L., age 18, male; farmer; /$150; born GA W. F., age 16; male; /$150; born GA J. T., age 14; male; born GA D., age 13, male; born GA S. F., age 11, female; born GA A. J., age 9, male; born GA M. A., age 8; female; born GA E. F., age 3, female; born TX A. C., age 1, male; born TX Good luck! Ga. In 1870 he was in Davis Co. Tx. 1870 shows Elizabeth as 12 years old meaning she would have been born abt. 1858 and it shows her being born in Texas. He has to be somewhere in Texas - I think. He died between 1870 and 1880 in Cass Co. Tx so I am at a loss. I couldn't find him on ancestry either - but thought you would have better luck. (You usually do). Sorry I wasn't able to help. Hopefully someone else on the list will have better luck.
