    3. Carol, Might Fred's mother have been Mindy Shaw instead of Lunn? Fred's family in the 1900 San Jacinto County census were living next door to Jeff Shaw's family. Jeff and his wife, whose name looks like Lun to me, had a daughter named Mindy, who was the same age Fred's mother gave on the 1910 census (born Feb 1888 per 1900 and age 21 per 1910). Am trying to verify Mindy Shaw's mother's name in case that's where the "Lunn" surname came from, but she was dead prior to 1910 and am not having any luck so far finding her in the 1880 census. If you think Mindy may have been a Shaw instead of a Lunn, would you let me know, please. If Shaw is not a possibility, I won't waste any more time on that search. Does Mindy have a grave marker? Does you dad remember if she had siblings (Millie, Richard, Rosa)? Thanks, Linda in Georgia ----- Original Message ----- From: Carol Fletcher To: TX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, June 24, 2005 4:00 AM Subject: Re: [TX-CEN] San Jacinto County, Texas My father Fred Stringer was born to Lucius Stringer and wife Mindy Lunn (I believe) on Oct. 18, 1908 in San Jacinto County. I can't find any info on his mother. She died when he was 5 and I can't locate her family. The family's were feuding so lost touch. Can anyone help me? Thank you ever so much. 3. In looking at this census, I don't believe that Mindy or her sister are the daughters of Jeff. The Shaw's had only been married 10yr. and these girls are 16 and 14. I believe that the wife is the Louisa Carnes age 11 found in San Jacinto County in 1880. I say this, because the Carnes are next door to the Shaws and Stringers in 1900,1910,1920,&1930. But this Carnes household and the ones on either side in 1880 is a mess, and I don't know how you will figure out what the true relationship is to all the members. I sure the answer to the true identity of Fred's mother lies in the 1890 census, which of course we do not have. ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda Murray<mailto:lhmurray@bellsouth.net> To: TX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:TX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 24, 2005 7:42 AM Subject: Re: [TX-CEN] San Jacinto County, Texas Carol, Might Fred's mother have been Mindy Shaw instead of Lunn? 3. I don't have a clue. Not finding a marriage record for Jeff in San Jac., who was William J. in 1910 and still next door. Hopefully you will be able to. 3. I know Mindy is buried in the cemetary near Cleveland. I think there is a grave marker but not sure. She died of TB at the age of 23 I think. My dad was an only child, he had a sibling who was either stillborn or died in infancy. I had heard that Jeff Shaw was a step dad to Mindy but have never been able to verify it. Pete Shaw (grandson of Jeff) is a family friend that I am in email contact with and he says that there is no family relationship between the Stringers and the Shaws that they just grew up together. My dad passed away in 1991 so I can no longer ask him questions and I didn't get into geneology until after his death. But he always called Richard Shaw "Uncle Richard" and said the Pete (Richard's son) was his double cousin. I didn't question what he meant by that except that he was supposedly a cousin by two different means. I do know that my grandma Mindy was related to the Carnes family. There is land joint owned between us Stringers and the Carnes' so I know that is a known fact. It was inherited land passed from my Grandma Mindy to my dad then to my siblings and myself. I figure Mindy had at least one sibling who also inherited since the land was passed to the Stringers and the Carnes. I can't contact any of the Carnes family because when my Grandpa Lucius Stringer married Mindy her family didn't like it and the dislike has continued down through the years. My family, including my dad, always believed his mother's name was Mindy Lunn. It wasn't until I got to searching that I began to wonder because I couldn't find anything on Lunn but did on Shaw. Thank you so very much for helping me search. It really means alot to me to find out where my Grandma Mindy came from.
