I am searching for Nelson C. Cogdell b. @1841 MO & Rachel "Ellen" Fowler Cogdell b. @1843 MO on the 1870 Census. I think they were around Denton, Collin Co., Dallas Co. TX area. July 5, 1865 Collin Co. TX Rachel "Ellen" FOWLER married Nelson C. COGDELL. They were both widowed and Nelson had a son, John b. @1862 TX. I know that Ellen was widowed in Collin Co., TX but do not know where Nelson was before, I have not seen him on the 1860 Census. Also I know that they had a son William L. Cogdell b. @1866 TX and maybe there were other children by 1870. I know they were in Texas because they moved to Montgomery Co. AR by the 1880 Census and on the 1880 Montgomery Co. AR Mortality Schedule they lost a 5 year old son, Charles N. Cogdell in May 1880 and it stated he was born in TX, I have not located Nelson C. Cogdell on the 1860 Census so I do not know if he even lived in TX during 1860 but I know Rachel "Ellen" Fowler b. 1843 MO was with her parents in Denton Co., Stewart Creek Twp, TX on the 1860 Census. Ellen's parents, John C. Fowler b. @1818 KY & Olivia Heath Fowler b. @1821 KY or IN had moved to Granby, Newton Co. MO for the 1870 Census with their 2 youngest daughters, Mary "Mollie" Ann Fowler b. @1855 McKinny, Collin Co., TX and Olivia Fowler b. @1861 Dallas, Dallas Co., TX. I never located the other sister Isabella Fowler b. @1850 MO or Rachel "Ellen" Fowler Cogdell (b. @1843 MO) on the 1870 Census. I know Ellen died prior to 1897 so I would really love to find her on the 1870 Census as it is the last census I need for her as I have her in Montgomery Co., AR in 1880. I never knew she existed until I got a computer about 11 years ago and located them on the 1850 Saline Co., MO Census. The kind volunteers at various sites have helped me so very, very much and I sincerely appreciate the generosity and kindness shown by genealogical volunteers. We are really fortunate to have these Internet Volunteers. I sure wouldn't want to go back to the "good ol' days" of writing, enclosing the stamped, self addressed envelopes and a check and hoping that it would be acknowledged & the information checked or that a clerk wouldn't just file my letter in the "round file." Thank you for your time. Charlene
I can't find them on the 1860 or 1870 census either. I looked thru several images on the 1860 around the Fowlers, thinking Nelson Cogdell might have been a neighbor. But didn't find him that way. I believe this is Nelson's son in 1900 1900 Missouri Twp, Pike County AR Cogdill, William age 35 b TX MO KY with his family I believe I found Will Cogdell and his family living in 1910 Hempstead County AR and N.C. Cogdell and his wife Elizabeth are living next door. N. C. is indexed as Cogsdell age 73 b. MS, eventhough the image shows he was born Missouri. Do you need that.
