    2. It shouldn't be difficult to get your child's birth certificate if the child was born in Texas. The 'certificate' that us given to the mother from the hospital is a complimentary type 'rembrance' of the day a person was born. It is not a legal document. Never was intended to be one. (At least, that is what I received when my children were born in TX.) Austin, TX has all the birth certificates. Contact your local representative or senator if you cannot get a certified copy of a TX birth certificate from Austin, the capitol.

    3. I received the same type of complimentary certificate when my two girls were born in New Mexico and I didn't realize they weren't the real thing until they went to start school and at that time I wrote to the court house in Albuquerque where they were born (we lived in Illinois by now) and for a small fee I was able to get their certified certificates. I am assuming that Texas works on the same type system. Also here in Illinois they have the same system. I don't know why they don't give out the authenic certificates at the time of birth anymore. Good luck......
