Desiree, I didn't find that surname indexed in Texas at all. Probably an error on the part of the indexer/transcriber. There was one Fred indexed in the 1880 LDS every-name index who was of about the right age and whose last name may likely have been misconstrued. From the 1880 LDS census transcription: 1880 - Census Place: San Antonio, Bexar, Texas Source: FHL Film 1255291 National Archives Film T9-1291 Page 19A Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace Mary GAENSLEN Self F W W 31 TX Occ: House Keeper Fa: PA Mo: PA Fred GAENSLEN Son M S W 10 TX Occ: At School Fa: NJ Mo: TX Mary GAENSLEN Dau F S W 7 VA Occ: At School Fa: NJ Mo: TX George GAENSLEN Son M S W 5 TX Fa: NJ Mo: TX Elizabeth GAENSLEN Dau F S W 3 TX Fa: NJ Mo: TX If you have any other information about him that you could give me, I will be happy to try again. BTW, I found no Fred or F initial whose last name began with a "G" indexed in Hill County. Much luck in your search, Linda in Georgia Census/Cemetery Lookup Volunteer Genealogy is my ONLY business. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Ejoley@aol.com> To: <TX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 08, 2002 2:12 AM Subject: [TX-CEN] 1880 look-up....Hill County ? > When anyone can, I am trying to find in the 1880 census the GERALDON family, > > supposedly < in Hill County.
