If anyone has access to the 1880 Census for Smith County, TX and surrounding counties (Cherokee, Anderson, Gregg, Henderson, Rusk, Van Zandt & Wood counties) I would sincerely appreciate a look up for William Reese McDow born Nov. 28, 1852 AL. William McDow's sister, twice a widow, Elizabeth Davis, was in Smith Co., TX 1880 with two of her daughters but her son was not with her, Samuel A. Smith b. @1868 LA. I thought Samuel A. Smith may be with his Uncle William R. McDow who had lived with Samuel's parents in 1870 in LA. Samuel would have been about 12 and William would have been about 27 in 1880. Any help would be really appreciated. Charlene

Click on the US 1880, British and Canadian Censuses on the left of the Home page. I couldn't find Samuel A Smith. I tried Samuel, Sam, S, and S A. I also tried for all Smiths born 1868 +/-2 yrs. I tried no state and Texas and Louisiana. Go to http://www.familysearch.org/ and play around with it. There may be something you may see with a name that I'm not familiar with.
