Delphine: I note that the chap you're researching was a Methodist minister. There's a list devoted to Methodism in Texas; can't remember its address, but it should be easy to find. They may be able to give you information on the Rev. Mr. Cameron directly. If not, they can at least point you in the right direction: i.e., give you the name & address of the Archivist of whichever Conference Abilene is in. Note that historically there were two catagories of Methodist ministers. Individual conferences kept complete records for those who were fully ordained and published obits of them in the minutes of the annual Conference meetings. The other catagory was composed of men who were licensed to preach but were not ordained. They were called "locals" and no Conference records were kept concerning them. So if your Charles S. Cameron was ordained there's lots of information on him within easy reach. Delphine, The request limit for the lookup list is one at a time, so I chose to search 1900 for this particular request. There are 14 Charles Camerons indexed in 1900 Texas, and only one with an S. middle initial. That one was a white male, enumerated in McLennan County, born ca 1859 in Louisiana. If you can confirm that that one is the one you need, I will be happy to do the transcription. For future requests, please be so kind as to give as much information as you know that might help our volunteers locate the correct family, so as to avoid duplicate and additional search requests. Race, approximate age, and place of birth would be most helpful to us in our search. Additional details, such as name of spouse and/or any children, if known, as well as county of known residence would make our job so much easier. Hi Jeanette, Thank you for looking. No. My grandmother and her father were living in St. Louis Co., MO in 1900. By Sept. of 1910 they had moved down to Navarro Co., TX. I have always heard that they lived some place close to the Oak Cliff area until they moved in Sept. She met her future husband and my grandfather Benjamin Franklin Garner some place around there. He shows up on the 1910 Dallas county census living with his sister and her husband. I'm not sure where this would be: 1910 Texas Dallas Co. Dallas Precinct No. 7 taken on April 29/30 1910 ED 71 Supervisors District # 5 Sheet 16 A page 660 Ward of City 9 St. Polk family 313/322 This was the Morgan family he was living with. I wish I had more data. They were not in MO. They had to be in TX. Maybe the census missed them. Thank you so much for trying to help. I really do appreciate your kindness. A certified copy of a birth certificate can be obtained for a fee in Texas from the court house where the birth occurred.. What county are you interested in? I can get you the address of the Fort Bend County Courthouse where I live if that will help. Their phone number is 281-342-3411 Marguerite
I received the same type of complimentary certificate when my two girls were born in New Mexico and I didn't realize they weren't the real thing until they went to start school and at that time I wrote to the court house in Albuquerque where they were born (we lived in Illinois by now) and for a small fee I was able to get their certified certificates. I am assuming that Texas works on the same type system. Also here in Illinois they have the same system. I don't know why they don't give out the authenic certificates at the time of birth anymore. Good luck...... Birth certificates are issued by the state and/or county of birth, not by the hospital. Before you leave the hospital, the birth registrar gives you all the paperwork required to obtain a "certified copy" of the official birth certificate which must be submitted to the Department of Health in Austin, Texas or your County Clerk's office. The certificate given to you by the hospital is more of a birth record momento (sometimes with foot prints) to put in your baby book. You can print/mail/fax requests for birth certificates at http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/vs/default.shtm Vanessa I don't know why they don't give out the authenic > certificates at the time of birth anymore. > Good luck...... > Carol > > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It shouldn't be difficult to get your child's birth certificate if the child was born in Texas. The 'certificate' that us given to the mother from the hospital is a complimentary type 'rembrance' of the day a person was born. It is not a legal document. Never was intended to be one. (At least, that is what I received when my children were born in TX.) Austin, TX has all the birth certificates. Contact your local representative or senator if you cannot get a certified copy of a TX birth certificate from Austin, the capitol.
