    3. On the left side of the monitor your should see a column with arrows. Click on Census. Next there is a box (on the white screeen part) with bold black letters next to it that reads census. Inside the box is the word "All"; click on this box to choose your census. Enter a first and last name and any other info that you know. Last click on the Search key at the bottom right. Good luck and let me know if you need further asisstance. ~Jeanette ----- Original Message ----- From: "James D. 3. Yes, A. Carr, Carpenter,M, W, 61, Ky: wife Martha,F W housewife, 50, Mo; Angelina Carr dau, 19, tx.;Peyton S, 17, Tx; Etheldred, S, 14, Tx; Samantha Joella and Irean Isabella, twins 8, tx.; in 1870 Harris Co. Westfield Po. census; This family was in the Hardin Co census in 1860 with 2 more daughters, and in the 1850 Sabine Co. Tx. census. Aguilar Carr was head of household in the 1840 census in Claiborne Parrish La. In the 1880 census of Montgomery Co. Tx. there is a Sallie Carr as head of household, with Hagdon and Drayton, Jo and Bell( these were the same children but don't understand the spelling) but their agesare right. but I haven't found where either A. or Aquilla and his wife Martha might be. Catherine had already md. Jessie P. Carter and has a family; Martha md. Zachary Taylor Martin; Angelina md John leonard Cagle; Bell md Henry Thomas Vick in Mont. Co. Tx. and Jo md L.McDonald. I hope this information will identify enough to let you help me. A. C. Carr was with the sommervel expedition in Oct. 1842 with E S Robertson Col. and I remember my grandfather Etheldred Thomas telling me that his Father Aquilla went to the Indian Nation with one of his children. The Carter family was in the 1870 Montgpomery Co Tx census. 3. I'm going to need more information on this one. Do you know A. Carr's first name, his approx. age, and his place of birth. Have you found them in 1870 or 1900, where were they living. Do you know the names of the daughter's husbands? The 1880 census is free and searchable online at www.familysearch.org. This is the site I'm looking at. 1. Re: TX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-D Digest V05 #133
    2. Sandra, thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I noticed that Missouri Twp was created from part of Gap Twp 1876, so it could be that with boundary changes that Nelson C. Cogdell did not move at all, with boundary changes it could be that he still lived where he lived with my ancestors sister, Rachel Ellen Fowler (1) Lewis (2) Cogdell in 1880 in Gap Twp, Montgomery Co. AR, he could have been in the same place but different name, Missouri Twp, Pike Co., AR in 1900. It is right on the border of Montgomery/Pike Co. AR. They may have enjoyed the thought of using different township & county without moving. I had thought Cogdell might be easy to locate because it is not such a common name but it is spelled so many different ways, or as you pointed out there are other mix-ups due to indexing & transcribers trying to read some of the very hard to read census takers writing. I am assuming Nelson Cogdell was in TX 1875 due to the son's birth in TX 1875 as per the 1880 Montgomery Co. AR Mortality Sched. But maybe they had gone to where Nelson Cogdell had lived prior to their marriage? Since he does not show as part of the family of Cogdell in Denton Co., TX he could have been a cousin visiting that family and met Ellen there. I thank you for your help Sandra. Judy, another kind volunteer, had sent me the 1910 Nelson & William Cogdell Census. Sandra, thank you so much for looking and I hope all your good deeds bounce right back to you. Good luck with your searches. 1. 1870 Census Collin Co. TX area COGDELL/COGSDELL/COGDALE, Nelson C.
    2. I am searching for Nelson C. Cogdell b. @1841 MO & Rachel "Ellen" Fowler Cogdell b. @1843 MO on the 1870 Census. I think they were around Denton, Collin Co., Dallas Co. TX area. July 5, 1865 Collin Co. TX Rachel "Ellen" FOWLER married Nelson C. COGDELL. They were both widowed and Nelson had a son, John b. @1862 TX. I know that Ellen was widowed in Collin Co., TX but do not know where Nelson was before, I have not seen him on the 1860 Census. Also I know that they had a son William L. Cogdell b. @1866 TX and maybe there were other children by 1870. I know they were in Texas because they moved to Montgomery Co. AR by the 1880 Census and on the 1880 Montgomery Co. AR Mortality Schedule they lost a 5 year old son, Charles N. Cogdell in May 1880 and it stated he was born in TX, I have not located Nelson C. Cogdell on the 1860 Census so I do not know if he even lived in TX during 1860 but I know Rachel "Ellen" Fowler b. 1843 MO was with her parents in Denton Co., Stewart Creek Twp, TX on the 1860 Census. Ellen's parents, John C. Fowler b. @1818 KY & Olivia Heath Fowler b. @1821 KY or IN had moved to Granby, Newton Co. MO for the 1870 Census with their 2 youngest daughters, Mary "Mollie" Ann Fowler b. @1855 McKinny, Collin Co., TX and Olivia Fowler b. @1861 Dallas, Dallas Co., TX. I never located the other sister Isabella Fowler b. @1850 MO or Rachel "Ellen" Fowler Cogdell (b. @1843 MO) on the 1870 Census. I know Ellen died prior to 1897 so I would really love to find her on the 1870 Census as it is the last census I need for her as I have her in Montgomery Co., AR in 1880. I never knew she existed until I got a computer about 11 years ago and located them on the 1850 Saline Co., MO Census. The kind volunteers at various sites have helped me so very, very much and I sincerely appreciate the generosity and kindness shown by genealogical volunteers. We are really fortunate to have these Internet Volunteers. I sure wouldn't want to go back to the "good ol' days" of writing, enclosing the stamped, self addressed envelopes and a check and hoping that it would be acknowledged & the information checked or that a clerk wouldn't just file my letter in the "round file." Thank you for your time. Charlene

    3. Hello Ron, I have found a Margaret Stone living in 1910 TX, I have no way of knowing if she is your Margaret, you be the judge. Margaret Head, Age 65, Herself and parents born U. S., Margaret is a widow, she does not list an occupation, she was able to read and write, it looks like she may have owned her home free and clear. I am not sure but she may have been living with, on the same property or next door to an Aaron and Sarah Brubaker. The information on this census is as of April 15, 1910. This is from Iowa Park 2 j-Pct, Wichita Co. TX, Series: T624, Roll: 1597, Part: 2, Page: 6A, I hope this is of some help to you. 3. Of course, by that time frame she could have gotten remarried. If she were to be found on the 1920 census ANYWHERE under her married name (Griffin), then she would be listed as widowed. Her maiden name was Clark L. Cook, daughter of Thomas B. and Dora A. Cook. They're listed on the 1920 census there in Potter County, but Clark isn't with them. They even had a daughter named Henry. Her in laws were Andrew and Willie Smith. She's not with them either even though they ran a boarding house. So, for the time being, Clark has become a mystery, and a loose thread in my tree of life. Her and Tolson were married six years before he died. That was plenty of time to have children if they were ever going to have any. That's more the reason I've been looking for Clark, to see if there were any little Tolsons running around out there. I didn't find her indexed, so I checked all the Griffin households shown to have been enumerated in 1920 Potter County. None of those included a Clark or similar given name. There IS a Leona Griffin, age 23, single, who was enumerated as a boarder and working as a checking clerk in a bank. Is it possible that the widowed Clark L., born 1892, and the single Leona, born 1897, is the same person? Did she remarry? Might she have been living with relatives and mis-enumerated with the incorrect surname? Sorry not to be able to help.
