His name was Richard Bennett McCreadie (that spelling may vary, MacCready, etc.) Can you help her. I have no clue about CA stuff. She was told he was in San Francisco and Sacramento is a possible. 1. Re: [TX-CEN] 1880 Texas Census Index Look up -------Collins, Floyd
    2. Linda Murray
    3. Marianne, No rabbit in the hat this time. There was only one Floyd Collins indexed in 1880 Texas - he was too young to be yours - and born in Kentucky. I honestly tried every trick I could think of and searched the national index also without finding this fellow. Because the 1880 LDS transcription has an every-name index, I tried searching on "Lavinia" (because it is fairly unusual), who should be about age 11, and born in Florida. No luck there either. Sorry I wasn't able to help (again)! 3. It sometimes takes a long time to get an answer simply because these folks are all volunteers and do have other things going on in their lives. I appreciate greatly all they do for us when they do have the time. I always check www.censusonline.com before asking anyone on the lists to do a lookup and then only one per person per year per day as the rules state. Please be patient with them. They get a sometimes overwhelming amount of mail and many of them are doing lookups for more than one state! 1. Re: [TX-CEN] Menard, Cty. Tx FLORES Family 1920
    2. Linda, Yes, Their headstones said that they both died in 1957. No month or day. Pedro was born in 1872 & Antonia in 1886. There is also a second headstone next to them Cuca Flores, bn. 11/30/1912 died. 5/16/1947. I don't have any of their childrens names, but I am assuming that this is their daughter, don't know if Cuca is a nick name or real first name--don't know what is stands for. Thanks for trying I was hoping that they would of been listed in the census. I know that they also lived in Uvalde and a place called Camp Wood not sure where that is. Thanks for trying though, I appreciate it. Louise

    1. [TX-CEN] re: Texas state census
    2. Linda Hawkins
    3. Where can I find the Texas state census? Thanks, Linda ...The State of Texas has census records that date back to 1850. Beginning with the 1850 census the placeof birth for each person was listed. Typically, only the state or country of birth was listed. In the 1870 Census the question was asked whether either parent was foreign born but did not ask for the place of birth of the parents. Beginning with the 1880 Census the place of birth of each person was included as well as the place of birth of both the mother and father of that person, but no names were given as to who the parents were unless they were living with that person at the time that the census was taken. In the 1900 Census we get more information including the year of immigration and/or naturalization as well as the year and month of each person's birth as well as their age, how long they have been married and how many children they had, and how many were still living or not. They also told you what the relationship to each person in the family was. In 1910 they went back to only listing the ages of each person and not the birth year and month but continued with the relationships as well as places of birth and marriage info. In the 1920 Census they added information about whether the home is owned or rented as well as information about education, citizenship and place of birth as well as native languages spoken. A persons occupation has always been on the census since 1850. In the 1930 census you were asked what age you were when you first married as well as if you owned a radio set. They also did away with the language question.
