Kathy, I checked all those indexed in 1920 Tom Green, and none had a wife named Hattie. Searching at Ancestry for the state brings up 635 with the Curry spelling and 121 spelled Currie. Can you maybe pick another county where they may have been living in 1920? Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Some of the names are given as nick names or what the family called them. Alonzo gets to be Lon for instance. Elvina gets to be Viney or Vina. some of my personal ones. Also even on recent things Dale was Dole in 1937 on a birth record by the state. A bible name of Virgie (1902 mothers handwrting) became Virginia when she come in to the world and work place. Who knows why. Quinta
I (speaking only for myself, of course) always check for any given name that might possibly have been mis-transcribed as something similar, whether volunteering my time or researching for fee. However, we all do make mistakes, even when we give it our all and are as "careful" as we possibly can be. It's always a good idea to check the census for yourself any time someone can't locate an ancestor who is certainly there, and the best method is a page-by-page search - which a volunteer cannot possibly do for you.
