    1. Re: [TX-CEN] Marlin J. Brackin
    2. Linda Murray
    3. Dabney, I am not sure if you are requesting a census lookup, so I checked 1900 for this family, just in case. Birthplace for Marlin was only given as "Texas", which is the case in almost every census year - except for some 1860 states and counties in which the enumerators were kind enough to give county of birth. There may have been other earlier years in which county was given, but I can't recall any offhand. You will probably not find his county of birth given in census records to date. My suggestion would be to obtain the death certificates of the siblings just older and younger than he to see if either of those give a clue to the county where they were living in 1896. For instance, if the sibling just younger than Marlin indicates that he/she was born in Hunt County, it might be safe to assume that Marlin was born there also. If the sibling just older than Marlin was born in Navarro, Marlin probably was also. You might also want to check deeds in Hunt County to get an idea as to when Alfred's family left there. Perhaps he sold land there before leaving. The 1900 census for Navarro County indicates that he was renting his farm, so probably had not yet made a purchase there. Much luck in your search. Sorry I wasn't able to be of more help. 3. Kloyece, Am sending the page off-list, but there are no step-daughters enumerated on that page at all. Are you sure this is the right image? Rambo, maybe? The 14-year-old daughter, Claire, is listed as "daughter" though the "F" in the word "wife" above makes it appear that there's a "t" in the word, but definitely "daughter" instead of "step-daughter". Let me know if it's clear enough to read. It's kinda crappy online. 2. Linda Murray
    3. Melanie, I checked those in Houston COUNTY, and she was not in any of those. There are 19 Blakes indexed in the town of Houston in 1920. Her death certificate should tell you where her parents were born, so if you can furnish that much, I should be able to cut the number of possibilities to one I can handle. 2. Linda Murray
    3. There are several John Yarbroughs indexed in 1870 Texas - no Yarbroughs in Erath County at all. I checked the only one who was indexed with the middle initial H. (John H. Yarbro in Hill County), and he was not the one you need. There are other John Yarbroughs indexed in Collin, Ellis, Hays, and San Saba Counties. In hoping to get a handle on your John Hillard and Wealthy, I also checked the 1880 Texas index, and didn't find them indexed there either.
