    3. Brenda, I didn't find your Alonzo or Lon Allen indexed in 1880 Texas, any county. There were lots of Allen families indexed in 1870 Collin County, but no Alonzo, Lonzo, Lon, or "L" initial. The 1870 index for the state shows two Alonzo Allens (no Lons). One indexed in Refugio County was age 55, born in Vermont, wife Ann, age 45, born Vermont also. Another was indexed in 1870 Corpus Christi Township, Newton County, but that township is not online in the Ancestry census images. Sorry. He was age 50, born Georgia, and living with Evan and Margaret Powell, born Georgia and South Carolina. Another James E. Yarbro was indexed in Cooke County. He was age 24, born in Mississippi, with wife named Mary, born in Missouri. A third and fourth James Yarborough were indexed in Ellis County. He was apparently a Texas Ranger, most likely prior to his marriage in 1889, and I've found mention of a Lon Allen in reference to lawmen in the Collins Co. of TX between 1867 and 1873. If a Lon/Alonzo Allen could be found in the Census of 1870 or 1880, I could compare ages, thus determining whether this reference should be followed up on. Thanks in advance Brenda Pedersen

    1. Re: [TX-CEN] 1870 Titus Co. Texas Wilson
    2. Linda Murray
    3. Wanda, They weren't indexed. There was also only one Samuel Wilson indexed in 1870 Titus County. He was age 19, working as a farm laborer, and born in Texas. Enumerated in the household of Mary J. and Francis J. Hopkins - Francis born Texas, Mary in Missouri. He owned real estate valued at $1400, though, and personal property valued at $900, which is very unusual for a single, nineteen-year-old - perhaps inherited from his father? 1. Re: [TX-CEN] Look up Index
    2. Linda Murray
    3. Hey, Wanda. That should have read "could" instead of would. I think you need at least the basic subscription to access the indices at Ancestry. I am sure that access to the actual census images requires a separate subscription, but am pretty sure the indices are included in the databases accessible with the minimum subscription. Someone will correct me if I am wrong - and Lord knows, I've been wrong before.
