    3. Texas was not a state in 1840 -- so no 1840 census. Anyway, the first census where families were listed is 1850. 1. [TX-CEN] 1830 or 1840 census???
    2. Dena
    3. Hi, I was just wondering if there are any census records for Tx before 1850? I have an ancestor, my ggf was in Tx before 1840. He settled in what was Montgomery co. then, later it became Walker co. Are there any census for 1830 or 1840 in East or Southeast TX, Texas Republic? Anyone know where or what to look for? Maybe Mexican records? THank you so much for your time, Dena Jackson Burrows
