Hi Jeffrery, William was a popular name in the TWILLA family along with Sarah! Britton Clifford Twilla was born Oct 01, 1884 in Finley, TN (Dyer County) and died 09/04/1951 in Bogota, TN (Dyer County) . He married Carrie Mahon Twilla on 5/23/1904 and they had 9 children (their oldest son was William). Britton's parents were Henry C Twilla and Sarah M Edwards & they named one of their sons William . Henry's parents were William F Twilla and Lucinda Garner & again they had a son named William. Dear Twilla Researchers, I think it is possible the original name coming to this country was Twilley/Twilly/ or Twillie and somewhere about North Carolina in the late 1700's or early 1800's the name was misspelled to Twilla. Is there anyone with documented proof of the name Twilla before the late 1700's in this country? I have Oringinal Land Pattens back to the mid 1600's under Twilley. Hi Mary, My Great Grandfather , Henry C Twilla & Austin are half brothers. I think Austin lived with Henry in Dyer County after the Civil War.
