To all Subscribers on this list, Normally, we do not post virus warnings on mailing lists, but ever since the W32.Klez virus, these seem to be coming more frequently, especially among mailing list subscribers. Thus, I want to warn everyone on this list about a potentially hazardous new virus that has just recently been detected called "W32.Bugbear". It is basically the same type of worm virus as the W32.Klez: it copies itself to your computer and sends out bogus emails and thus spreads the virus to others. I want to remind all our subscribers to PLEASE! keep your virus protection software up-to-date and scan all incoming and outgoing emails for potential viruses. Rootsweb filters all its email (and a virus can never be transmitted via a Rootsweb list directly), but the virus can be spread by individuals who respond directly to messages either actually, or apparently, sent through Rootsweb's mailing lists, so please be aware of this. You can read more about this new virus at either of the following URLs: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected] http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1105-960139.html It is urgent that you update your antivirus software TODAY. If you get a copy of this virus from anyone on this list, send ME, NOT THE LIST, the person's address and I will notify them and put their address on the reject list temporarily to prevent further spread on this list. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask me but please do this OFF LIST; let's have no discussion about this virus ON this list. Thanks! Sincerely, Peter Wyant TWEED List Admin.
