He married (1) Mary Jane (Lena) Sprouse. She died before 1901. He married (2) Sophronia Adaline Ellington March 24, 1901 in Madison County, NC. She was the daughter of James Ellington and Jane Hunter. She was born November 16, 1875 and died April 22, 1969. (13 days after Elisha) Elisha was a veteran of the Spanish American War. He was a Private of Company E of the 47th Regiment of Infantry Volunteers. He enrolled September 23, 1899 and served until June 30, 1901. Children of Elisha Tweed and Sophronia Ellington are: 1-Zollie Tweed, born Feb. 16, 1902 in Madison County. Died January 11, 1995 in Asheville, NC 2-Lucy Tweed, born Nov. 4, 1904 in Madison County. Died Sept.17, 1994, Madison County, NC 3-Liston Chester Tweed, born November 17, 1906 in Madison County, NC. Died October17, 1992, Madison County, NC 4-Leta Edna Tweed, born April 1, 1910 5-Roy Tweed, born 1912 6-Rev. Alvin Tweed, born 1917. Hope this helps!
