    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iQTBAIB/127.2 Message Board Post: Hi Rachel, As Linda stated Matthew is the son of Alexander Dickey Tweed and Maria Wait. I can add to that a little bit. Matthew was 5 years of age on the 1852 census and 14 on the 1861 census. He married Maggie Duglas, (probably should read Douglas) who was born in 1843 in Caledonia Township, Prescott County, Ontario. The marriage date is December 23, 1870. In a book by Cyril Thomas, "The History of the Counties of Argenteuil, Quebec and Prescott, Ontario", published in 1896 on page 558 it states; " Alexander D. Tweed...who was 4 years old when his parents came to Canada (1820) was married in 1843 to Maria, daughter of William Wait. He bought a farm near the homestead, which is now (1896) owned by his own son, Thomas. He was a man of influence in this section as a Justice of he Peace for several years, and as Director of the Agricultural Society. He died in November 1882, aged 67; Mrs Tweed died in July 1893. They had nine children - five sons and four daughters, who, with the exception of William and Thomas, living in this place, (West Hawkesbury) are settled in widely different localities - Manitoba, the United States and in Australia." Alexander Dickey Tweed and Maria Wait are both buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Vankleek Hill, Ontario. Regards, Jean Rutherford
