This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iQTBAIB/15.2 Message Board Post: Dear cousin, I am a great grandson of Maria Anne Tweed and Dr. Matthew Young, V.S. My grandfather was George Errington Young, born 1898 on Bonnie Doon Farm at Manitou, Manitoba. He was the youngest child of Matthew and Maria Anne Young. I have considerable information concerning the Young family and often heard my grandfather's oldest sister, Mabel Fulton Young (Mackintosh) speaking of her grandfather's death while hunting ducks at Rice Lake, Ontario. Unfortunately, I have no antecedent information and, indeed, no authentic documentation of the birthplace of any of the three children of William Tweed and Anne Dawson Errington. Although Aunt Mabel, who was singularly knowledgeable concerning family matters always told me that her grandfather was a "William Tweed," just a few minutes ago I came across the marriage entry #001445-78 (Bruce County) of Uncle George Tweed and Minerva Treleaven which gives his parents' names as "Geo. & Ann Tweed" and his birthplace as "Percy." I sincerely hope t! hat you have been successful in locating some authentic records regarding the "Tweed." I might also mention that this branch of the family is of some special interest to me as my mother's maiden name was "Mary Tweed Young," her grandmother being her namesake. She was the eldest child of George E. Young and Josephine Ruby Brooks and was old enough to know her grandmother quite well. I am born 1947. With kind good wishes, Felix G. Kuehn

Hello, folks, it's been some time since we've had a roll call, so let's have one now! Here are the rules: 1. Participation is completely optional! 2. Because I hope we'll have a good response, pls post only the minimum information necessary, which would normally be: - surname(s) of interest (with given names if thought necessary); - date range(s) being researched; and - location(s) of interest; unless you think there's good reason for additional information. 3. Don't consider the roll call necessarily limited to only the surname of THIS list ... sometimes links can be made through multiple surnames 4. If you think you have a "hit" with someone else, pls consider posting the "hit" to the list as well, in case there's more than one person interested! Have fun! Peter List Admin.

Is the surname Tweedt a "form" of Tweed?
I have just subscribed and wonder if anyone is interested in the TWEED family of the West Riding, connected to the above farms and St Bartolomews Church, Dean Head, Scammonden, where there are at least 3 graves with MIs Most of the Baptisms appear to be from Ripponden, again St Bartholomews Church which served Barkisland and nearby areas. Marriages tended to be in Elland or in the Halifax Registration District with some in Huddersfield St Peters. Pole Moor Baptist Chapel was also used. Another Tweed farm was O'Cot near Pole Moor >From Egerton 3 brothers emigrated to the USA. William and Edward to Lander Wyoming, there is a Tweed Lane in Lander. George Henry their younger brother also crossed over bu where to ? Mark Andrew Halifax, Yorkshire Dean Head Families

A road there is named Tweed Lane. A third brother was George Henry TWEED b 1855 at Egerton Scammonden. Anyone with information on this line or where George Henry went to.
Folks, this will be one of those very rare posts from me advising the list about a virus alert. As many of you are likely aware by now, a new type of worm has appeared over the last 24 hours or so that does NOT require an attachment to be opened in order for the virus to be activated. It's called by various names by different AV providers, many of the names "Beagle" or "Bagel", and there are a number of brand new strains, including -O, -P, -Q, -R, -S, and -T. Most newspapers around the world today will have a news report about this new worm, with more details. This post is NOT meant to alarm anyone, and no-one should be alarmed IF (a) you have regularly updated(!) AV software running, and (b) if running in an Microsoft Windows environment, you regularly download and install the most current MS patches. For further information on this (and all other) virus threats, pls see: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ For further information on available MS patch downloads, pls see: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp Thanks, and as Phil Esterhaus used to say, "Hey, let's be careful out there!" Peter Wyant List Admin. p.s. any comments to me off-list, please.
Folks, just doing a test ... nothing to worry about. Thanks, Peter Wyant List Admin.
